Town of Elizabeth

INTRODUCTION
The Town of Elizabeth water utility supplies a growing number of primarily customers with water in rural Harrison County. The Elizabeth Town Council commissioned Midwestern Engineers, Inc. to complete a Comprehensive Analysis of the Waterworks Facilities.

History and Location Data
The Town of Elizabeth water utility commenced operation in 1975 when approximately 68 miles of water mains and two water storage tanks were constructed. Water service is provided to the rural residences in the areas surrounding the Town of Elizabeth and Harrison County. Some water mains extend into the northeast neighboring Floyd County. Several extensions and improvements have been made to the original system over the years. Around the year 2000, a major improvement project was made that added three (3) well near the Ohio River, a water treatment plant, 12" transmission mains, and a third water storage tank to serve what is now Caesars Casino. The system currently contains approximately 124 miles of water mains. The system service area is bound by the Ohio River to the east and south, South Harrison Water to the west, and Edwardsville Water to the North. The approximate population served if 4,450.
